Little Late

Dear 20% Time Readers,

I am sorry since I have been behind on my blog posts, but now I am up to date and will now give you my current status on the project. Currently below, I just posted my 20% Time Proposal about what I will do for the rest of the year on the project. I try to keep you all updated every week like I planned.

I'll be back on Wednesday or Friday on what I did this week.

Sincerly,
Hunter F.

20% Time Project Proposal

Here is my plan for this year on my 20% time in Mrs. Browning's class:

20% Time Project Proposal

Name: Hunter Fountain
Project Title: An insight on Engineering
Project Start Date: November 7, 2014
Project Completion Date: May 15, 2015
Mentor’s Name: Mrs. Browning, Mom, Dad, Dong-han
Brief Description: I will research all the different types of engineering there is. When I choose my top 3 or 5, I will choose one and present what I learned from it.

Overview of Project Proposal

1) Project Objective:
My objective for doing this project for my 20% time is to teach myself more about different groups of engineering. Some examples would be auto, tech, building buildings, etc. When I research my 10, 20, or so engineering careers, I will narrow it down to my top 3-5. Then, I will choose my favorite one after researching even more on the 3-5 careers. Finally, I will do a project on the career to show what I learned from the career.
2) Project Rationale:
The reason I am doing this project is to educate myself more on the different types of careers in engineering to help me decide on why type of job I might want in the future. I might also want to do some of these types of engineering as a hobby.
3) Project Steps:
1.      Find about 10 different types of engineering careers to research.
2.      Narrow down 3-5 different types of jobs and choose from those 3-5 jobs.
3.      Once I have my top job/career, I will show how much I learned about this job by doing a project about it.
4.      Finally, I will present my project to the class at the end of the year in May.
4) Timeline of Activities:
To stay organized from now till May I would need a timeline on what should go on every month. Doing this will keep my project on-time and maybe ahead of schedule.
·         December-January: Will begin to find different job opportunities (at least 10)
·         February: Begin to research on each one and find my top 3-5 jobs.
·         March: Research the 3-5 and choose the best job I like.
·         April-May: Start project showing what I learned from my favorite job I chose.

5) Available Human and Material Resources:
Some available human resources for this project are Mrs. Middleton, Mrs. Crowe, Mrs. Dishman, any student/graduate Student at Auburn University whose degree is in engineering. Some material resources that are available to me is my laptop to look up information on the internet, videos on YouTube that talk about engineering, and a few more minor places.
6) Possible Road Blocks:
While doing this project I might run into a few roadblocks. Some roadblocks I might run into are: won’t have all the resources I need, not stay on time with the timeline, and other classes’ homework and projects might interfere with the project’s timeline. Those are some of the possible roadblocks for this project.
7) Research Questions:
Every project you do in your life has questions you need to ask to do, research, find for the project. Whether your project is about butterflies or Albert Einstein you need to have research questions about it. Here are some of my research questions I think I should ask is:
·         What are my top ten jobs to research?
·         Who am I going to ask first about my top ten jobs I chose?
·         Where are some good websites for researching on engineering?

Hello 20% Time World! This is my first blog post and really don't know what to say. Anyways to stay on subject I kinda have an idea for this 20% Time. I think I'll do something with programming or find out about my family history. Well, I'll tell you more about this next week....
